Inquiry about the exhibition

The two artists began their collaboration in 2006, after meeting at the MUDAM in Luxembourg. Together, they have developed a distinctive body of work (installations, sculptural objects, videos, performances, photographs), in which the human figure serves as the primary material as well as force.

Drawing on real-life situations—often complex ones—they give form to the experience of time, duration, or waiting, in direct engagement with the materiality of a territory and its boundaries—particularly in the context of situations of confinement. Attentive to the margins rather than the center, the artists are interested in the blurred interstices where society confines those it marginalizes or renders invisible.

Our world is the periphery, that space-time we don’t want to see.

Their methods and the final aspect of their minimalist works place this body of work within a tradition rooted in conceptual art, but is founded above all on a singular capacity for attention and empathy toward the people and social situations encountered. Emerging from a long creative process involving social analysis, research, and immersion in the field, their artistic practice relies on observation, dialogue, and co-creation with the people involved.

The need to engage with reality as closely as possible, within an environment they approach like “chameleons”—without preconceived judgments—allows them to capture elements of everyday life that escape the first glance and to set about making them perceptible.

Their ability to refract and poeticize reality, by combining facts, objects, anecdotes, or symbolic elements, creates a polysemic work that leaves an impression on the viewer, who is invited to grasp what lies or vibrates beneath the apparent order of the visible. It is thus at the heart of their approach—which is at once conceptual, human, empathetic, and poetic—that the distinctiveness and coherence of their work are played out.

Brognon Rollin was named one of the four finalists for the 2026 Marcel Duchamp Prize.
