*The English version of Bad Driver was presented at Maxwell Graham Gallery, New York, in 2021.
The anthropological approach is omnipresent in their work, and Bad Driver methodically identifies our contemporary and complex societies. The text is constructed in part on the model of William Burroughs' cut-up, bringing together numerous writings and idioms, laid end to end. Like The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Bad Driver is ostensibly a book. Throughout its pages, it quotes facts, anecdotes and commonplaces from Chinese and Japanese history and culture, both learned and popular.
