These forms were imagined and recommended by the Pratt Institute to the American army in their manual Industrial Camouflage. They were intended to be placed on the facades or roofs of military structures amidst natural landscapes. When seen from above, the forms project irregular nature-like shadows on the ground and camouflage the silhouette of pillboxes or other military architecture.
